Portugal Offers Affordable Property Investment Abroad

Portugal has always been popular with property investors, but now so more than ever and with property prices inflation recorded at 3.8% for the first quarter of this year investors are looking to cash in.

Those looking to invest in property abroad are being encouraged to consider purchasing residence in Portugal. The country has had a long standing love affair with buyers from the UK, which has been echoed by a recent study by ShelterOffshore.com, who claims that it is the most popular destination for ‘lifestyle buyers’.

The main attraction to Portugal from overseas buyers has to be the fantastic weather all year round as well as fantastic leisure facilities, especially golf and beaches. Although prices in the Algarve reflect the fact that it is a popular destination with buyers from overseas, there are several areas of Portugal where the price of property is extremely reasonable in areas that are relatively unspoilt by holiday buyers, but are close to amenities and beaches. The Silver Coast has long been heralded as ‘the real Portugal’, with little villages and stunning inland towns just a short drive from beaches and where the housing is still relatively cheap.

ShelterOffshore.com have states that there are still many bargains to be had in Portugal and that it is well worth the punt. With house price inflation rising 3.8% already in the first quarter of 2008, those with property investment in Portugal will be looking to reap rewards.
